草场地摄影季由思想手和三影堂摄影艺术中心共同发起策划，与国际著名的阿尔勒摄影节共同合作，并且得到了草场地和798画廊的大力支持，它也是法国驻华大使馆举办的中法文化之春项目的组成部分。草场地摄影季有幸每年都得到大量外国驻华使馆以及私人赞助商的支持。

过去四十年来，法国阿尔勒国际摄影节已成为摄影艺术家、专业人士以及摄影爱好者们汇聚一堂之处，他们来到法国南部的这座小城，发现摄影界的新锐，同时，重新认识著名大师们。

草场地艺术机构2000年诞生于北京东北郊的草场地村，自那时以来，已发展成为最具活力的艺术中心，拥有多家画廊、艺术机构和艺术家工作室。在草场地摄影季期间，每一个参与合作的草场地画廊都会组织独具特色的活动，比如展览开幕式、夜间音乐会、纪录片放映和短片投影等，所有的活动都向大众开放。草场地摄影季的目的，是通过一年一度摄影家、摄影收藏家以及公众共聚一堂、品味高质量摄影作品的活动，在艺术区内为摄影打造一个平台。

Curated jointly by Thinking Hands and the Three Shadows Photography Art Centre, the Caochangdi PhotoSpring Festival was organized in collaboration with Les Rencontres d’Arles and galleries in Caochangdi and the 798. It was part of the Croisements Festival and presented in partnership with the French Embassy in China. Caochangdi PhotoSpring has been generously supported by numerous foreign embassies in China and private sponsors.

For the past forty years, Les Rencontres d’Arles has been the meeting point for photographers, artists, professionals, and amateurs alike, who come to the southern French city to discover new talents and rediscover celebrated masters.

The Caochangdi Art District was born in northeastern Beijing in 2000 and has since flourished into a vibrant artistic hub with numerous galleries, art institutions, and artists’ studios. During the week of festivities, each of the partnering Caochangdi galleries hosts unique activities, such as exhibition openings, lectures, evening concerts, documentary film screenings, and slideshows. All activities are open to the public. The aim of Caochangdi PhotoSpring is to build a platform for photography in China through an annual event that allows photographers, photography collectors, and the public to meet and view high quality works.

Initiators

The Three Shadows Photography Art Centre, opened in June 2007, is the only professional institution entirely dedicated to photography and video art in China. www.threeshadows.cn

Thinking Hands, opened in 2004, is a structure dedicated to contemporary art practices, that initiated activities to develop and protect the 798 Art District and organized the DIAF (Dashanzi International Art Festival) from 2004 to 2007. www.thinkinghands.org
